Prayer and Care

Prayer Ministry

At Northshore we believe prayer is absolutely central to all we do. It is our life; the very basis of our relationship with our God, and the core of our ministries. As a ministry, we see our work as promoting, developing, and convening prayer at Northshore Baptist Church.

To communicate prayer needs please email prayer@nsb.org or call the Prayer Line at 425 821-5252, ext 6. To connect with a class, prayer group, or prayer team, email prayer@nsb.org or call Anita Warren at 425 216-4439.

Community Support

In any season of life and in any stage of your walk with God, you may be hurt, confused or stuck in the midst of decision-making or relationship-keeping. Whether your need is one-on-one counseling, support for kids struggling in school or the desire to change a troublesome behavior pattern, Northshore’s Community Support Ministry offers a variety of opportunities for you to press through issues such as these.

Benevolent Fund

When hard times come, Benevolence is available to assess the situation and respond to people requesting aid. We provide assistance for the Northshore family and for those from outside the church who, in a time of crisis, need a helping hand with funds, food and other types of resources that are available within our church. For more information, contact Bette Hertzberg, 425 216-4404.

Stephen Ministry

We offer support to people who are experiencing transitions due to difficult life circumstances. Upsets come from death of a loved one, change/loss of job and financial distress, moving, divorce, children in trouble, caring for aging parents, economic downturns, legal or medical issues and many other events that we all could face. Stephen Ministers are trained in effective listening, compassionate assertiveness, crisis theory and intervention, prayer and using the Bible as a resource. Coming alongside of those in need, Stephen Ministers are committed Christians who…

  • Express God’s care and support to others.
  • Receive 50 hours of initial training in important caring ministry skills and concepts.
  • Visit another person regularly and dependably.
  • Participate in regular support and supervision under the guidance of trained Stephen leaders.
  • Preserve the confidential nature of the caring relationship.
  • Receive continuing education and skill development throughout their years of service.

If you, or someone you know, would benefit from meeting with a Stephen Minister, please contact Lupe Maple at 425 216-4416.

If you feel empathy toward people who are experiencing some kind of life crisis and you want to help, please consider Stephen Ministry training. Hospital and Shut-in Visitation

Northshore extends resources to assist people who are confined. We provide bedside companionship, assessment of needs, tangible services, a link to the prayer line and communication with a pastor. We also develop support teams as needed for ongoing care.

Funeral Support

During times of loss, Northshore pastoral care offers the comfort of a personal presence to those who are sorrowful. We desire to be there for people who are walking through their first steps of grief. We coordinate resources, facilitate arrangements and participate in memorial services as needed.

Grief Support Group

L.I.G.H.T. Ministries has a support group for people grieving the death of someone close. Share with others who understand what you are experiencing and want to offer you comfort during this difficult time. Come and be encouraged to press through your pain into hope for the future.
